We all have had bad dates where you can’t wait for the date to be over. The kind of dates you breathe a sigh of relief when you part.  What about the average dates? The ones where the banter flows well and are not sure you are feeling the sparkles?

Why not err on the side of caution and give your date another go?

Here are 6 reasons why you should go on a second date, even if the first date was meh.

1. It might have been an off day

We all have off days, where we are just not your true selves. Give your date the benefit of the doubt, they might have not been their best for whatever the reason. Or maybe it was their day off. A stressful day at work, an argument with a friend or family member could have thrown them off their ‘game’. We are not talking about rude or concerning behaviour; trust your instincts.

Sometimes it takes more than one date to know if you are compatible with someone, so a second date is not a bad idea.

2. Nerves could have been the culprit

Everyone, no matter how confident, feels nervous on their first date. Nerves can cause shyness, awkwardness which can throw off the chemistry between two people

3. Second dates are more relaxing

The pressure is off and now you can relax and enjoy your date; letting your true self transpire.

4. You have the chance to dig deeper

Second dates allow you to ask more meaningful questions and get a feel for your date’s personality. Typically, on a second date, you drop off your guard, open up and are more vulnerable. Which will lead to a more deep and meaningful conversation.

5. Second dates will avoid the “what if”

There is nothing more wretched than that question hovering around your head “What if”. Without a second date, you could never know for sure where it all could lead.

6. How do you know if you should have a second date

You need to go on a second date if you answer these questions with a ‘yes’:

  • Was there a little chemistry ?
  • Did the conversation flow?
  • Did your date focus on you?

If you answer ‘yes’ to all three, a second date might be a good idea.
