Many of you may have noticed an increase in upper lip hair follicles around Australia of late; memories of moustached heroes like Merv, Booney and Lillee are stirring. You’d be forgiven for thinking the lip slug is making a comeback but alas, its return will be a brief one – about a month usually.

The reason for this hairy miracle is Movember; the charity-drive that raises funds and awareness of men’s health issues, specifically male depression and prostate cancer. Aussies all around the country are sprouting mo’s and raising cash for the cause; RedHotPie caught up with our friends at Perth’s Guys Grooming, the coolest male grooming joint in the country; the GG team are right into Movember and their enthusiasm is just about to hit bursting point!

When Guys Grooming co-owner Nathan Ahern was quizzed on the company’s involvement in Movember he was excitable to say the least. “Guys Grooming has its own Mo Gro team on the Movember website” explained Ahern. “We also support the corporate teams in Perth by sending our Staff in to remove the Mo’s at the end of the month. We are a sponsor of the WA branch of the Prostate Cancer Foundation.”

We made our love of the mo’ clear to Nathan and asked if he thought it could make a fulltime comeback or whether it would remain an annual novelty fashion. “The Mo has its place every November” Nathan replied. “The long term Mo has not settled back into society outside of this great month but this can change very quickly if the ladies like the look. We had one client whose wife loved his look so much (she thought he looked like Hugh Jackman in Wolverine) that they’re expecting their third child next August.”

In an attempt to spread mo’ knowledge about Movember the super talented Guys Grooming team have come up with a hilarious mo’ guide which you can find below. When Nathan was pressed for a favourite style he was quick to reply. “The “Pornstar” and the “Gringo” are great styles that are very good conversation starters and we would all love to be one of these.”
