Suzie Q is one of Australia’s premiere pole talents – but that’s not the whole story. You see Suzie is also a media personality, a business owner and one of Australia pole instruction authorities. Whether you’ve seen her performing, or perhaps hosting events like Sexpo, or maybe gracing the covers over magazines like Penthouse, Suzie is not a lady you’d forget in a hurry and her drive and motorvation have taken her around the world. Lucky for us, Suzie is home and working on her next big event, PoleCandy: Red Hot Christmas Stockings, a pole dancing spectacular which is taking place in Sydney this December.

Suzie dropped by the RHP offices to have a chat about PoleCandy and her history in one of the hottest art forms in the world today!

(RHP)So Suzie, can you tell us a little about your upcoming PoleCandy Event

Yes, we’re so excited to be launching! It’s going to be a sexy Xmas/cocktail party with heaps of amazing performers. The theme is “Red – Naughty or Nice” so there’s no excuse not to dress up!

And is PoleCandy a one off or multiple events?

PoleCandy is a series of events put on by Suzie Q Pole Studio. We currently run two PoleCandy events each year: “PoleCandy Amatuer Pole Comp” in April and “PoleCandy: Red Hot Christmas Stockings” in conjunction with RedHotPie in December.

And what’s your own background in pole dancing?

I am the co-owner of Suzie Q Pole Studio in Parramatta and the current Miss Pole Dance NSW. I keep trying to win Miss Pole Dance Australia (I have entered every year for the past five years and have come Second, Second, Sponsors Choice, Second and Third respectively). Even though I haven’t won (yet!) I still get to “guest teach” all over the world and am currently planning my next tour to Paris, Finland, Germany and the UK early next year.

That’s awesome, the sport really seemed to explode a couple years back, do you think that was the peak?

I don’t think we’ve seen the peak yet! Our school (Suzie Q Pole Studio) is continuing to grow and we have plans to expand over the Xmas break this year.

And you’re obviously quite involved in the instruction of Pole dancing, what sort of people are you finding it attracts??

Contrary to what most people might think, it’s not girls who want to get into the industry that come and learn to pole dance. It’s normal, everyday women who are after something a bit different in their exercise regime. We have mothers, daughters (some of whom come together!), nurses, lawyers – we cater for women of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels.

And what do you see for the future of Pole Dancing?

There are some parts of the pole dancing community that would like to see it recognised as a sport – it has been recognised by a European Gymnastics Association (they are even trying to get it into the Olympics!!). I just hope they don’t go too far and sterilise it completely into a sport. I love the sensuality and performance side of this amazing art form and would hate to see it lose all association with the industry that it came from.

So how did you get involved with RedHotPie?

RedHotPie actually sponsored me when I entered Miss Nude Australia 2008. I won and since then I have been a RHP Model of the Month, done webcam chat on the RHP site and try to get to as many “inner circle” parties as I can 🙂
