COSMETIC procedures that reduce lines and wrinkles on your face are so last year.

Women desperate to slow down the ageing process are now splashing out more than $3000 on jabs that claim to make their vaginas look more youthful.

Dubbed “labia puffing”, the non-surgical treatment involves injecting their own fat or dermal fillers into the labia majora to boost volume, add elasticity and remove creases.

The procedure takes 30 minutes and apparently the recovery time is minimal.

Jennifer Walden, a beauty plastic surgeon, says the vagina “loses volume and fullness with age as well as laxity of the skin”.

She told Daily Star Online: “Plumping the labia majora gives it a more youthful appearance”.

“The benefit of labia puffing is that it uses you own fat from another area of your body to add volume back to an area that deflates with time.

“This makes it look great as it immediately refills it to an appearance similar to what it may have looked like prior to child-bearing and/or menopause.”

Women can choose to use their own fat for the treatment — which will be sucked out of their abdomen or inner thigh via liposuction — or fillers.

The fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a moisture-boosting chemical found naturally in the deep layers of the skin, which is already used in many facial fillers.

Dr Walden said fat has a “softer, more natural appearance” and lasts longer, but some people prefer fillers because the material is “available off the shelf”.

She added that the process is “similar to getting areas on your face” injected with Botox.

Dr Walden said some of her patients have seen a boost in their sex drive following the treatment as they “feel more confident” about their privates.

Statistics from Transform Cosmetic Surgery showed a 45 per cent increase in the numbers of women inquiring about surgical procedures since 2010.

The average age of patients has dropped from 35 to 28, with more women now choosing to have surgery for aesthetic rather than medical reasons.

However, it’s worth pointing out that the labia plumps up when a woman is aroused, thanks to the rush of blood supply to the area.

An increasing number of Australian teenage girls have “genital anatomy anxiety” and are requesting genital cosmetic surgery to alter “normal” body parts, according to alarming new research.

The survey of 443 Australian GPs found a third have seen patients aged below 18 wanting to trim or shape their genitalia. Almost all the doctors surveyed said they had seen women of all ages express concerns about the appearance of their genitalia.

“The GPs surveyed said a large proportion of women have some degree of genital anatomy anxiety,” said head researcher Dr Magdalena Simonis, a fellow at The Royal College of General Practitioners, who revealed the survey’s preliminary findings.

The reasons for this anxiety included a “perception of normality based on images seen online”, particularly those in porn.

According to more than half the GPs surveyed, women who request genital surgery may have a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, body dysmorphic disorder, depression or eating disorders.

GPs, plastic surgeons and gynaecologists have echoed the findings and say many women have a warped understanding of what is a “normal-looking” vagina, due to the rise of internet porn and photoshopped images of genitalia, and because more women are removing their pubic hair.

Between 2000 and 2011, Medicare claims for vulvoplasty and labiaplasty grew from 640 annually to 1565 per year, according to a Women’s Health Victoria report. Labiaplasty, often marketed as “vaginal rejuvenation”, involves removing excess folds of skin surrounding the vulva.

The US and UK have seen similar increases. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery says that 400 girls 18 and younger had labiaplasty last year, an 80 per cent increase from the 222 girls who had cosmetic genital surgery in 2014. A 2013 British report found the number of labial reductions on girls and women done by the UK National Health Service had increased fivefold over 10 years.

Dr Laith Barnouti from Australia Plastic Surgery, a Sydney clinic where labiaplasty and other “vaginal rejuvenation” procedures are regularly performed, says his practice has seen a 5-10 per cent increase in requests for genital surgery since January 2015. Most of his patients are aged between 15 and 30.

Dr Barnouti says only fully-qualified plastic surgeons, not cosmetic surgeons, should perform the procedure.

“We will not do this on someone with a normal labia, only those with very prominent labia. Many of these women are embarrassed about it and they avoid intimate situations.”

He said women who have the procedure performed by an unqualified surgeon risk permanent damage.

“We see people who have too much tissue removed and we need to do a reconstructive labiaplasty. Some of the doctors don’t understand the function of the labia. If you cut the labia flush with the skin, then the opening of the vagina will dry up and you can get ulcers,” he said.

Women are becoming increasingly insecure about how their genitalia look, says the president of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Professor Steve Robson.

“With the fad of removing a lot of pubic hair, women and their partners can see the labia in more detail,” he said. “Lots of women don’t think they’re normal because they compare themselves to unrealistic models.”

The best way to improve the problem is to reassure women that there is a wide variation in the way things look.

“If your genitalia look and function normally, you do not require an operation,” said Prof Robson, who only performs “one or two” of these operations a year.

“I would do a labiaplasty if there was really a great degree of asymmetry, or someone had big labia which become inflamed when they ride a bike or do other forms of exercise.

“Often women just want to please their partners. I’ve said to them: The problem is with your partner, not your vagina’.”

Dr Simonis’ preliminary findings come as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists issued guidelines to doctors last week to assist women who want to have genital surgery, The New York Times reported.

The college urged doctors to reassure these patients and suggest non-surgical alternatives that may alleviate discomfort and screen them for a psychiatric disorder that causes obsession about perceived physical defects.

Last July, the Royal College of General Practitioners issued guidelines for doctors on treating patients who request genital surgery, including recommending that they be directed to images of female genitalia that have not been digitally altered.

FORGET the gym bag. Sack off the treadmill and say sayonara to swimming laps at the pool.

Exercise just got interesting. Sexy yoga is here!

In a little yoga studio in the heart of Fitzroy a few weeks ago, I found myself with a curious group of strangers. Looking around coyly from one to the next, we were all here for the same reason — a session of sensual yoga — or as I like to call it, sexy lady time yoga.

But this was no one-off. Yoga came as part of a Pleasure Weekend workshop, the brainchild of Vanessa Muradian — sexologist, yoga teacher and yoni massage raconteur. The idea is for women to explore their sensual side, reconnect with what they need sexually, and feel empowered to ask for what they want — and have fun with it (caveat, without actually getting naked at the workshop, people! Get your filthy minds out of the gutter).

So we whizzed through some anatomy and the pleasure-trove that is the vulva (or the much cooler-sounding “yoni”— the Sanskrit word for it, meaning sacred cave). And then we covered the kinds of things all of us have wondered about, from female ejaculation (“it’s like you’ve wet the bed!” we’re told) to the complex matter of low libidos and our changing sex lives. It was cathartic really to share how we feel with other women — it didn’t matter that they were strangers.

And then after all the talking, there was just one thing left. Sexy lady time yoga.

Cue dimmed lights.

Cue Lycra.

Bow chicka wow wow.

Actually, even though I was half hoping for a burst of Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing, the soothing African folk music that was played was just as good — the drums setting the pace for the flow of the class.

We sat up on our shins, letting our hands caress our thighs and wander up over the rest of our bodies — moving faster or slower depending on what felt good to each of us individually. Then on all fours, we got into “cat-cow”, arching our backs and then reversing the pose inward, letting out sighs of release with each breath.

As we repeated the pose, we were encouraged to listen intuitively to our bodies and freestyle, moving in whichever way felt right. Everyone had their own interpretation — rolling their hips forward, back and around, pressing their bodies hard into the floor and sliding up slowly.

The breathing got deeper, the exhales louder. Actually, that’s an understatement. Remember that scene in When Harry Met Sally? Meg Ryan in the cafe, you know the one. It was a little bit like that. Just multiplied by 23 women.

Although it took a bit of getting used to, the vibe in the class had totally changed — from each of us having one eye on the girl next to us to see what she was doing to totally focusing on ourselves. And with every audible exhale, we harnessed what Vanessa called our orgasmic energy.

From there we flowed through a sequence of poses from “eagle”, where Vanessa encouraged us to feel the heat fire up from our pelvis as we pressed our thighs together and balanced — through to “bridge” where on our backs, we arched our torsos up and then on the way back down, pounded the floor with our lower backs which, weirdly, was way sexier-feeling than it sounds.

And then we rested. That energy surging through us, totally focusing on our own pleasure.

Not thinking about that job we’ve got to get done at work tomorrow.

Not thinking about what we need to buy from the shops.

Not thinking about our partners, friends or kids — none of that.

Just focusing on those lovely tingly feelings. And why shouldn’t we be, ladies? I mean, come on — who wouldn’t want a little more pleasure in their lives?

Bloody hell people, look at you all, sitting there huffing and puffing, just back from the gym or running laps in the park; why do you do it to yourselves?...

Bloody hell people, look at you all, sitting there huffing and puffing, just back from the gym or running laps in the park; why do you do it to yourselves? ‘Oh because it keeps me fit’ I hear you moaning! Are you crazy? Why spend all that money on outfits, memberships and equipment when with a little help from your friends you could be rock hard in no time… and fit to boot!

And the secret to this fountain of physical fervour… just say yes baby, it’s that simple. There have been so many surveys into the health benefits of sex it’s a wonder you’re not allowed to plug away in the streets nowadays.

Look at what I’m talking about – ‘I’m off jogging Tommy, you fancy coming along?’ – ‘No thanks mate, I’m going to pop around and ride that blonde at number 42 ‘

You see; two approaches, both with great results; that said, I know which method I’d be adopting!

If you do the pelvic press with vigour two or three times a week those burnt calories are going to build up, in fact over a year it would equate to jogging somewhere in the vicinity of 75 miles!

There is mounting evidence suggesting that indulging a healthy sexual appetite can be of benefit in numerous ways, from decreasing the risk of prostate cancer through increased ejaculation to the reduction of stress and depression, all through rumpy-pumpy.

Really, since the days of the good ol’ Rocky gyms, fitness clubs have become neon lit trend houses for beautiful people who want to make sure they remain that way… for the rest of us, sweating it out in front of those pinups is hardly appealing, but just imagine if your workouts consisted of a quiet DVD with your partner, a little foreplay and half an hour on the job… BANG! 150 calories gone!

And so far we’re just talking physical benefits, just imagine the wonders regular bone-sessions do for us all mentally. Have you ever noticed what a right shit you can become when you’re a few weeks or god forbid months into a sex drought? Everyone seems more annoying, simple tasks become burdensome and the world just generally isn’t as much fun.

Then like an all-healing tonic, a good shag frees you of all that weight, you feel like you could take on the world with one hand tied behind your back. Sometimes we forget the high regular sex continually delivers us. It keeps our mental energy up and our self confidence brimming which counts for a huge amount in regard to our overall well being.

It really is the be all and end all when it comes to well-being practice… can you imagine if Hitler had of been dating a Jenna Jameson type in the early thirties? You can bet the farm that the forties would have been a calmer decade!

So keep saucy sex in mind next time you’re looking at those love handles or you’re feeling a bit down. Make an effort to jump your partner a little more often or get out there and find someone looking for some physical relations as well… You be screwing yourself healthy in no time.

Finally, the winter chills are coming to an end. The days are getting longer, the flowers are blooming and most telling, the hot pants are making a come back in...

Finally, the winter chills are coming to an end. The days are getting longer, the flowers are blooming and most telling, the hot pants are making a come back in a big way. Oh yeah! Though it is early days of spring yet and hardly ideal beach weather, except for the most diehard of surfers, it is time to start thinking about losing the winter insulation and toning up for that killer beach body. Now whilst RedHotPie recommends a healthy lifestyle of regular exercise and correct diet, we would like to direct your attention to a often underrated cardiovascular workout that now has the backing of the National Health Service: Sex.

The British Health Service has come around to our line of thinking and has advocated regular sex as an effective way of reducing health risk and increasing physical and mental wellbeing. In a recent academic article released by the National Health Service entitled ‘Get More Than Zeds in the Bed’ they state that sex, with a little bit or passion and imagination thrown in, provides a workout worthy of any honed athlete. “Forget about jogging around the block or struggling with sit-ups. Sex uses every muscle group, gets the heart and lungs working hard, and burns about 300 calories and hour. Wow! That equates to the calories consumed in a large chocolate mud cake. Mmm, I guess that means you can have your cake and eat it too.

Apart from the fitness aspect, there are also other health benefits that will help you to stay looking young. The increased production of endorphins released in the love making process ‘will make your hair shine and your skin smooth.’ And ‘if you’re worried about wrinkles – orgasms even help prevent frown lines from deepening.’ The extra production of hormones estrogen and testosterone ‘will keep your bones and muscles healthy, leaving you feeling fabulous inside and out.’

So if you want to look your best this summer, RedHotPie suggests hooking up online now with other hot members and literally shaking that ass into shape in the bedroom for that killer bod.

To get you started RedHotPie has compiled a list of benchmarks:
