Grown-ups writing about teenage dramas, it’s always a tricky one isn’t it… still, the monster UK hit series Skins has gone about as close to getting it right as anyone else in recent memory.
Based on the reckless and variously entertaining exploits of a young and mobile clique, Skins spends each episode diving into an in-depth examination of a new core cast member each week, which then uncovers their motivation and the basis of their position within the larger group.
As with any of these teen dramas there is an ever-present percentage of naff floating in the air but for the most part you’re too busy enjoying the ride to give it much thought.
Not as gritty as kids and not as funny as Superbad, but thankfully, Skins has found it’s own place, somewhere smack bang in the middle.
