IT’S the latest TV show coming to Australia that’s likely to spark a fair amount of controversy.
SBS2 is bringing daring British series Sex Box to our screens and it’s safe to say, Friday nights are never going to be the same.
The sex talk show is just as awkward as it sounds — couples engaging in actual sex inside a box in front of a live television audience and then discussing the experience with experts.
While not showing any intimate details (the box is concealed and soundproof) the show will feature candid discussions of a range of real-life couples, including straight, gay and disabled. While they are inside the box doing the deed, a panel is discussing sexuality in the television studio.
The Channel 4 series aired in the UK last year and the makers of the show claimed it is intended to “reclaim sex from pornography”.
Inspired by the work of sex researchers, the idea is that the couples talk about their experiences while their feelings and emotions are still vivid.
The program’s host Mariella Frostrup will quiz the couples along with sex experts including columnist Dan Savage, relationship expert Tracey Cox, and psychotherapist Phillip Hodson.
Sex Box premieres Friday, 18 July at 9.30pm on SBS 2… will you be tuning in? Let us know in the comments section below!
