A couple who plunged down a steep embankment while they were getting “amorous” on the side of the road sparked a major rescue operation in the UK.
The pair, believed to be in their 30s, were said to be in an “amorous position against a stone wall” when the woman slipped, pulling her partner with her as they fell over the wall, the Telegraph reports.
Firefighters, paramedics, a mountain rescue team and a helicopter were called to help rescue the couple after they fell four metres down the embankment at Yorkshire Dales on Saturday.
The man was flown to hospital by helicopter with possible abdominal and leg injuries, while the woman was taken by ambulance with pelvic injuries.
A North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the incident was “very strange”.
“It would appear that a couple in their 30s were getting a little bit amorous against a stone wall at the side of the road when unfortunately the lady has slipped backwards and fallen over the wall,” he said.
“Unfortunately as she has fallen the male has attempted to get hold of her but the momentum has pulled him over as well.”
