With studies showing a woman is doubly interested in a man if she believes he’s taken, a new service has emerged in the States that sends guys romantic text messages and pre-recorded phone calls from an imaginary girlfriend, in the hope they make him appear more desirable.
Fakegirlfriend.co supplies its users a number which they can save under a female name of their choice then, when instructed, the site will send out a romantic text message, followed by a pre-recorded phone call.
The messages vary with each send, so the service can be used multiple times.
A typical text might read: “Why don’t you leave the boys and come hang out with me?”
The pre-recorded fake girlfriend calls are complete with pauses to allow for responses and rattle off statements such as “Please come hang out with me? Please? I really miss you.”
And there’s good news, desperadoes, the service is free, for now.
Founder Ricky Robinett told the Huffington Post: “I’m looking into expanding some options that monetize the service, but nothing is in place for that yet.”
