Here are some common reasons why people might choose to stay in toxic relationships. Wondering why people stay in toxic relationships? Below are 9 reasons why.

Fear of loneliness

Some individuals fear being alone or believe that being in a toxic relationship is better than being by themselves. They may worry about not finding someone else or feel a sense of comfort in having a partner, even if it’s an unhealthy relationship.

Low self-esteem

People with low self-esteem may believe they don’t deserve better or that they won’t find someone who treats them well. They may internalize negative messages from their partner and struggle to see their own worth.

Financial dependence

Financial considerations can be a significant factor. If one partner is financially dependent on the other, they may fear the consequences of leaving, such as a decline in their standard of living.

Emotional investment

Over time, individuals may invest a significant amount of time and emotional energy in a relationship. This investment can make it difficult to walk away, even when the relationship becomes toxic.

Hope for change

Some individuals stay in toxic relationships because they believe their partner will change or that the situation will improve. They may hold onto the hope that things will get better, especially if the toxic behaviour is intermittent.

Cultural or societal pressures

Societal or cultural expectations, family pressure, or religious beliefs can play a role in individuals staying in relationships. There might be a fear of judgment or stigma associated with ending a relationship, particularly in cultures that emphasize commitment and endurance.

Manipulation and control

In some toxic relationships, one partner may use manipulation and control tactics to keep the other person in the relationship. This can include emotional manipulation, threats, or isolation from friends and family.

Lack of awareness

Some individuals may not fully recognize or acknowledge the toxicity of their relationship. They might downplay or rationalize the negative aspects, focusing on positive moments or making excuses for their partner’s behaviour.

Dependency

Emotional or physical dependency on a partner can contribute to staying in a toxic relationship. This dependency might stem from a lack of self-reliance or an overreliance on the relationship for emotional well-being.

How do you exit a toxic relationship? It starts with self-awareness and finding someone or a support group that may help you exit the abusive cycle. It’s important to emphasize that staying in a toxic relationship can have serious consequences for one’s mental and emotional well-being. If you or someone you know is in a toxic relationship, seeking support from friends, family, or professionals can be crucial in facilitating positive change.

Today, as I sipped my strong cuppa coffee, I came across the term “simmering”. What is simmering? Why do I not know about this? Were the questions that came to mind.

I googled it immediately; as we do these days. It turns out I know the term well. I experienced it; a lot of us have.

A Lifehacker video featuring Esther Perel explains “simmering” really well. If you want to understand all about the dating terms that are hurting us today; watch Perel explain them.

Perel asks – ” Why are these terms hurting us?” She continues to explain that all these behaviours promote selfishness, disrespect, and a dangerous decline in empathy in relationships. This is the very reason why we need to understand these dating terms and what they mean.
How many people have iced you? Or disappeared when they only needed to take one minute to explain themselves.

With the advent of technology and online dating; finding another compatible partner has become so easy. Rendering relationships unclear and ambiguous.

Watch Perel explain in the video below the dating terms that are damaging relationships and why we need to stop behaving like that.

10 Red Flags in his home that indicate you should walk right out the door

Whatever the situation might be, you’ve found yourself in a man’s home. Maybe you’ve been on a successful date and you’ve made it back to his place. If you both play your cards right, it might be a one-way ticket to bang-town. Here are 10 Red Flags in his home that indicate you should walk right back out the door.

1. Clothes all over the floor or bed.

How am I supposed to get jiggy while surrounded by your dirty socks? That’s NASTY. This show that they seemingly can’t set in place a hierarchy of priorities for organising their life. If they haven’t taken a few moments to at least hide their mess to impress you, it might be an indicator that they won’t make much effort in the rest of their life either.

2. Piles of dirty dishes (bonus points for mould)

A few dirty dishes is acceptable, we know you’re not a robot. But if you’ve planned to have a lady at your place, and there is a weeks’ (or more!) worth of dishes piled in your kitchen (or worse, through the rest of the house) this illustrates that you can’t look after yourself properly. If there is mouldy or smelly food, that’s when it moves from ‘gross’, to ‘health hazard’.

3. A bad smell

If your house smells, I am OUT. Where is it coming from? Did something die in here? Have you not taken out the trash in a month? Stop.

4. Bed with no cover/stains

An un-unmade bed can be forgiven, however, if you’ve got super old or dirty pillows, just a doona/duvet with no cover, possibly stained. Crumbs or food in the bed are an additional warning bell. You don’t want to be picking food out of your hair after a love-making session. If there are used tissues or crusty socks in there, RUN.

It doesn’t cost much to grab a nice cover for your bed from Kmart or target.

5. Decor

Things like:

No lamps: Come on, we need some mood lighting here.

Not a single book in the house: To quote John Waters: ‘If you go home with somebody and they don’t have books, don’t f*ck them’.

Posters of naked women: Is this a teenage boy’s room? Blu-tacked posters of extremely photoshopped women with fake tits do not make me feel sexy or inclined to have sex with you. Get some art.

6. Signs of pet neglect

This can include things such as:

Unclean litter boxes

Matted fur

Smell of urine

Fur everywhere

Pet faeces

This is not only a red flag for the house but a red flag for the poor neglected animal. Anyone who cannot look after their own pet definitely does not have their priorities in order.

7. Dirty toilet

Gross. No. Gross. No. This shows a lack of general hygiene and cleanliness.

8. Stains

What is that mystery stain? Is it coffee, is it faeces? I am not sure that I want to know, but it still shouldn’t be there!

9. Any signs of Hoarding

Can you hear that? That’s the sound of alarm bells ringing! Hoarders have some real problems that need addressing. If he has piles and piles of seemingly pointless ‘stuff’ and mess, this can be an indicator of some underlying issues. NOTE that collectibles are not hoarding, they are hobbies.

10. A whole bunch of fast food wrappers.

Even the best of us can be partial to the occasional 2 am Maccas run. But weeks or months’ worth of fast food wrappers are alarming. Can this man feed himself? Does he know where his bin is? Has he ever eaten a vegetable?

A good rule of thumb: Is there anything in his home that makes you ask: ‘Am I going to be murdered in this house?’

GREEN LIGHTS (You know, the opposite of red flags)

House Plants.

Candles.

Clean towels (and more than one).

Dirty laundry that is in a basket/hamper.

Well cared for pets.

Fruit and Veg in the fridge (that aren’t floppy or mouldy).

Art on the walls.

The bar has not been raised particularly high here lads. Go to Kmart, spend $50 and impress all the ladies you bring home!

We live in a world where we can’t escape social media. Social media platforms have increasingly become how we communicate with each other. We are all guilty of posting too much on social media at times. It’s then not surprising that Gatsbying in the latest Millennial dating trend.

Gatsbying is apparently when you, like Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby, throw lavish parties in the hopes of attracting the object of your desire. Just one huge difference: Instead of buying a mansion, reinventing yourselves and throwing wild parties. Millennials just post a photo or video on their Instagram or Snapchat Story, designed to attract that special someone.

Gatsbying is the new millennial dating trend, that refers to showing off on social media in the hopes that someone special will see your posts. Literally, where pretty young things put on a show to get their crush’s attention.

We’re all guilty of documenting our lives a little too much at times. But there can also be an ulterior motive behind why some of us upload videos, photos and Instagram Story. And that is in the hope that your crush will see it and message you.

Aussie model Matilda Dods who coined the trend and described it best in a post about it for TomBoyBeauty

“To post a video, picture or selfie to public social media purely for a love interest to see it.”

It doesn’t sound like Gatsbying is as bad as the other dating trends. However, it is a lot of energy spent in hope of attracting the attention of your crush. Seems like a text could do the job faster and a more direct way to communicate with your crush.

Hope that if you choose Gatsbying to grab your crush’s attention that it’ll go well. That it might elicit that flirty conversation from someone you’ve been secretly fantasising about. However, it doesn’t always work.

It goes right in the dating slang of modern day romance like ghosting, benching, kittenfishing and cushioning

The dating practice of ‘stashing,’ involves dating someone but hiding them from your friends and family. It slowly daunts on you, the realisation, that you have not met anyone of her family and friends. Although all seems well between the two of you, sex is great and you are having lots of fun together.

It simply could mean that your current squeeze doesn’t think you are marriage material. Hence why they do not bring you into their ‘inner-circle’ – friends and family. You start to feel rubbish. Wondering if they feel embarrassed of you or their feelings for you are not as strong as yours for them or maybe they are hiding something from you.

There is only one way to deal with this, start having a conversation about how to make your relationship more official. Whatever you do, do not stay in a relationship where your partner doesn’t feel proud of showing you off. Because you deserve better than being stashed away and being hidden from everyone.

FEMALE celebs these days? They just can’t stop talking about (caring for) their vaginas.

This week, Beauty and the Beast actress Emma Watson revealed how she uses a $US40 product called Fur Oil on her pubic hair.

“It’s an amazing all-purpose product,” the 26-year-old told beauty website Into the Gloss. She uses it on her eyebrows — as well as her lady parts.

She’s certainly not the first star to open up about varying treatments designed to keep things shipshape down there.

Here are five other examples:

ALL ABOUT THE LASERS

Kourtney Kardashian may have joked on Conan in December 2010 that she uses mayonnaise to shine up her genitals, but the reality-TV family has been deadly serious about their enthusiasm for ThermiVa. For the uninitiated, it’s a wand that dermatologists insert into the vaginal canal to heat tissue, stimulate collagen and revitalise the area. “My sisters, they’ve had kids, and there’s a vaginal lasering thing to tighten it,” Khloe Kardashian said on her show, Kocktails with Khloe, in August last year. “So in my household, all they do is talk about this vagina laser.”

SUNBATHE YOUR HOO-HA

No genitalia subject is taboo for Big Little Lies actress Shailene Woodley, who shared advice with Into the Gloss. “Another thing I like to do is give my vagina a little vitamin D,” she explained in March 2014. “If you live in a place that has heavy winters, when the sun finally comes out, spread your legs and get some sunshine.”

STEAM IS THE ANSWER

Gwyneth Paltrow has long been a fan of vaginal steaming. Goop, the wellness website of everyone’s favourite blonde goddess, advocated for the cleansing practice of an herbal “mugwort v-steam” in January 2015, but gynaecologists were less convinced about its effectiveness.

Still, a year later, Paltrow spoke to website the Cut and sang the praises of the steaming technique, citing its “real healing properties”. She admitted that she was sceptical at first. “The first time I tried v-steaming, I was like: ‘This is insane.’ My friend Ben brought me, and I was like: ‘You are out of your fu**ing mind. What is this?’ But then, by the end of it, I was like: ‘This is so great.’”

Meanwhile, an early, lesser-known adopter of the v-steam was reality-show star Tamera Mowry, who first indulged her lady bits in 2013, sitting on a toilet-like contraption that blasted hot steam, mugwort tea and wormwood into her vagina. It’s apparently an old Korean tradition.

LOTIONS AND POTIONS

Lauren “Lo” Bosworth hasn’t done much on TV since her heady days in twin reality series Laguna Beach and The Hills, but she gets props for her entrepreneurship. Last year, the beach blonde launched her own line of feminine hygiene products to tackle “tricky infections and irritations” down below. “This is something that was created out of necessity for myself and my friends, women that I know,” Bosworth said about her Love Wellness brand. The lotions and potions range from pH-balancing Do It All Wipes to Good Girl Probiotics pills. “There’s no reason why you should have 15 products for your face and zero products for your vagina,” she told the Cut.

EGGSTRAVAGANZA

As we’ve heard, mum-of-two Paltrow can always be relied upon to put women in touch with their inner, er, innards. Her Goop site went bananas over so-called “jade” or “yoni” eggs, which — when inserted into people’s vaginas — are meant to strengthen pelvic floor muscles and improve their sex lives. Doctors, meanwhile, were about as happy about the concept as they were about the v-steam.

You have heard of the popular saying: ‘ Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus ’ a metaphor that has become part of the popular culture to describe the differences between men and women.

Yes, men and women are very different and face problems when trying to get along.

We are different in how we do things, think, react and in how we experience life and sex. Almost in all aspects men and women differ, but despite all the differences we need each other.

If we recognise that we are different, embrace, respect it and ultimately support each other, there are lessons we can teach each other. Our differences enrich our lives and yes sometimes ticks us off, but imagine if we were all the same —BORING.

We should be glad these differences exist. As is often said, opposites attract, and it’s this which creates the magic between us.

Bright Side has sketched a funny comic about the hilarious differences between men and women.

Some of the things drawn in the comic graphic you’ll identify with straight away and others not so much.

10 Reasons You Should Date an Older Man at Least Once

There comes a time in everybody’s life when we need to embrace change.

When you are a girl and have been dating young men for a while but things aren’t going as planned, you may start setting your sights on someone who’s more refined, more sophisticated, and definitely more mature.

Maybe you should start looking to date an older man, because…

Here are 10 reasons you may want to date an older man:

1 He’s more secure

Other than money, he is also more secure when it comes to his emotions. In general, he’s more certain of what he feels about himself and life.

2. He knows more about sex

via Giphy

Older often means he’s got a couple of tricks up his sleeve, right? He probably has some high-level moves you haven’t heard of yet. With more time to perfect their technique, these men know where to touch, and for how long.

3. They have learned from previous relationships

via Giphy

He already knows that different women have different ways of expressing themselves, which means he’s better able to understand you. He has learned that some women are more emotional, vocal, relaxed, or sexual. Each times he meets a woman he assumes nothing.

4. He’s patient

via Giphy

He’s had enough dating experience to understand that all women have different little quirks and he’s not going to make a fuss over it. He’s going to back off and give you the space you need. Understanding the meaning of delayed gratification comes with years of hard work.

5. He’s confident and knows what he wants

via Tumblr

Confidence is an admirable quality in anybody, this assures that when you’re with your older man, you will settle for nothing other than the best. He’s experienced ups and downs in life and he knows how to get back up and get what he wants. A confident older man has strong sex appeal.

6. He’s not jealous or over emotional

via Giphy

He’s secure in the fact that you would like him for who he is, and not just some flimsy reason like you checking a younger guy passing by is going to set him off.

7. Better at communicating

If there’s something he wants to say, he’ll say it in as crystal clear a manner as he can muster. He has not time for games or misunderstandings.

8. He may be looking to settle down

via Giphy

This is great news for the ladies out there who want someone to settle with, or to go to parties with.

9. Chivalry

via Tumblr

It may at times seem annoying, but it’s it’s a gesture of feminine appreciation, so welcome it.

10. No Roommates

via Giphy

It’s unlikely that your older man will share his home with a couple of unruly slobs he calls his best friends.

Taking the risk with an older, more mature man can open your eyes to new perspectives. Why not give it a shot, and see how it works for you.

Are your sexting techniques not getting your desired end result? Maybe you are doing it all WRONG. Here we’ll provide some sexting tips on how to become the sexting legend...

Are your sexting techniques not getting your desired end result? Maybe you are doing it all WRONG.

Here we’ll provide some sexting tips on how to become the sexting legend you know you can be. Check the 5 tips to become a sexting legend.

First, build it up, don’t go for the kill straight away.

#1. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Warm Up To It.

Women, unlike men who are very visual creatures, enjoy a slow build up. They’ll enjoy hearing compliments on the lines of how much you like them. How interesting, exciting, attractive or beautiful they are.

Yes, flattery will work wonders, but ensure it’s genuine compliments; women have an incline to distinguish between genuine flattery and BS.
DO NOT send that DICK pic yet, save it for a bit later, when it’ll work in your favour. It’s all about the right timing.
Use instead subtle messages:

“I get excited when I think of you…” or “ You were the first thought I had this morning.”
Wait and see what she’ll do.

#2 Let Her Take The Lead

Wait for her next move. If she comes back with “I was just thinking about you too” then move on to a bolder response.

It’s all about timing, wait and see what she’ll do next. She might decide to just stay in that ‘space’ where you are all turn-on but haven’t talked about details.

#3 Focus On Her

This takes control because you’re urging to just go full-steam ahead. Tease her some more and compliment her on her assets – beautiful breasts, long sexy legs, lush lips, etc. Women love compliments it turns them on because you are focused on them and how you appreciate their bodies. Build it up till she can’t take it and will be in the same wavelength as you. You are getting close….

Ensure you know what she likes by now. If unsure ask, you’ll score extra brownie points because you are showing her you care what she likes. Sexting is great when you’re into online dating and just want to test the waters before you decide to have sex with someone.

#4 Build A Rapport

Depending on whether her responses are enthusiastic, you could take sexting a notch up and again let the conversation move on naturally. If she bites, sexting can be a great way to express darker, more hidden impulses and fantasies. Be explicit and playful and try out texting more detailed and explicit scenarios and let both of you minds into fantasising. Be realistic. You also don’t have to talk about everything you have ever fantasized about doing to a woman before you meet. Some things can wait until you are together.

“I was thinking about sucking those gorgeous nipples of yours.”

Sexting, explicit and raunchy thoughts at this stage should feel easy and comfortable.

#5 What About The Dick Pic?

For most blokes, the exchange of visual pics or videos is sexually enticing. Unfortunately, most women are not as visual; this is not the case with every woman. Some women enjoy a pic or two for you to showcase your prowess. It’s exciting and also they can have a look at what to expect. True to note, some women love a well-endowed man and nothing else will do. If you are left wanted in the eyes of a lady, at least the journey was fun and no hard feelings.
Send a dick pic only when you have gotten far enough in your sexting and it seems appropriated. No one likes to receive an unsolicited dick pic.

Hoping that every sexting experience ends like this:

Sexting follows the same rules as in all sexual activities; communication with consent is the key in sexting. Sexting is a great way to indulge in your desires and fantasies. Anonymous or committed, sexting is popular because it’s easy and gets you mind going. Sexting is all about having fun and a great way to spice up your relationship, or spark up a new flame.
